SNMP Trap Notifications (Health, State, JMX Metric)

SNMP Notification feature has easy SNMP trap configuration:

  • SNMP Trap for WebLogic State and Health (Servers, Deployments, Data Sources and JMS)
  • SNMP Trap MBean Metric Values
  • SNMP Trap for WebLogic Server Logs

How to Stuck Thread Occurs?
A Stuck Thread is a thread which is processing a request for more than maximum time that you configured in WebLogic admin console. By Default, the WebLogic server comes with 600 secs. If some thread doesn’t return in 600 secs, It gets a flag ‘stuck thread’.

How to deal with Stuck Thread?
Take thread dumps instantly.
Open thread dumps in visualVM. Analyze dashboard from WebLogic console (managed server > monitoring > threads).
Open thread dump files in “WLSDM Menu > Monitoring & Diagnostics > Profiling Dumps”.

I have been working on WebLogic server for more than 9 years. Often, I monitor server log files, Server status, Testing Data source connections, JMS servers, deployed application status, CPU/Memory usage and much more. If any of these objects got down or broken, then the associated deployed application will get into trouble. For example, a web application dependent will go down if the associated Data source (DB Connection) goes down, or a deployed application give a poor response if the CPU/MEMORY is full.

Many times I thought, what if a tool available…

Performance metrics are standing in WLSDM menu’s “JVM System Resources” tab. Users can add or delete to metric; dashboard, action;

configure alarm, store data or delete metric.

JVM System Resources

Previous on WLSDM blog, we have learned about WebLogic JMS infrastructure. In this tech blog post, let’s learn how to monitor WebLogic Java Virtual Machine (~Managed Server) resources and diagnose performance bottlenecks.

Weak JVM performance affects WebLogic domain performance directly. That’s why the host’s CPU and memory usage is very important in terms of improving WebLogic performance. Higher CPU consumption and Garbage Collection duration can cause applications to run slowly, even cause the WebLogic servers facing downtime. JVM instances in a WebLogic need to be monitored constantly and notification/alarm infrastructure must be installed as well. …

Go to the Configuration > WLSDM System Settings page and click on mail.content tab.

Getting a server disk usage alert must be followed some manual delete or move actions on a WebLogic machine.

At the end of post, there would be a youtube screencast tutorial about scheduling WebLogic jobs and automating scripts.

How to use WLSDM Disk Usage Dashboard (Disk Space Watcher)?

There are a lot of classic routines while administrating and managing Oracle WebLogic domains. Such as;

1) Could you please send me the WebLogic and/or application LOG files?
2) Could you please upload these files to the server(s)?
3) Could you please send me the “X” files on the server?
4) Could you please tell me what is current value in this file?

Mostly developers and administrators require these jobs to be done while working on Oracle WebLogic Server environments.

WLSDM has two important modules while managing these requests. …

If there is a lot of WebLogic domains you need to manage, use WebLogic “Domain JVM Argument Manager” for standardizing your JVM arguments.

Manage multiple WebLogic domains by Managed Server JVM arguments with WL-OPC visualized UI. Append, Remove, Update, Find and Replace, Replace All bulk operations are available.

APPEND: Appends or adds new single/multiple JVM argument(s) and locates them at the end of the existing argument line

Adding Single:

Adds JVM argument to the end of existing argument line for the selected WebLogic domain(s) and managed server(s).

Adding Multiple: -javaagent:/u01/oracle/middleware/user_projects/domains/${domainName}/wlsdm_agent/wlsdm_agent.jar -Dwlsdm.agent.logLevel=INFO -Dwlsdm.agent.extendedBackendMonitoringEnabled=true -XX:+UnlockCommercialFeatures -XX:+FlightRecorder -XX:FlightRecorderOptions=repository=WLSDM/temp/JFR -XX:+DisableExplicitGC
